Fairytales
Durham University’s annual summer concert brings together over 250 performers, from choirs, orchestras, bands, opera and musical theatre. Fairytales takes the audience on a magical journey through some of the world’s most cherished stories.
The music includes:
- Durham-born composer Will Todd’s settings of Shakespeare (Choral Society and Orchestral Society)
- ‘Song to the Moon’ from Rusalka, Antonín Dvořák; ‘Evening Prayer’ from Hansel and Gretel, Engelbert Humperdinck and an orchestral setting of Franz Schubert’s creepy song Der Erlkönig (Palatinate Orchestra and Opera Ensemble)
- Franz Schubert, Entracte No.3 from the incidental music to Rosamunde (Durham University Classical Ensemble)
- Music from ‘Frozen’ (Concert Band)
- and performances by Footnotes A Cappella, Durham University Gospel Choir,
