A journey from the hardships and chill of winter to the joyful release of spring with Durham University Classical Ensemble. The programme begins in the depths of winter with Archangelo Corelli’s ‘Christmas concerto’, a stormy concerto grosso by Antonio Vivaldi, a string arrangement of the first song from Franz Schubert’s chilling Winterreise and Dance of the Furies from Orphée et Euridice by Christoph Willibald Gluck and finally celebrating nature’s renewal with Ludwig van Beethoven’s uplifting Pastoral Symphony.
