European Christmas
In a programme spanning the continent, from Iceland to Ukraine, The Durham Singers perform exquisite music that reflects the cultural and historical diversity of Christmas celebrations, from intricate sixteenth century polyphony and the exuberance of Spanish villancicos to the present day, including music by Tomás Luis de Victoria, Michael Praetorius, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Edvard Grieg, Mykola Leontovych, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Einojuhani Rautavaara, Arvo Pärt, Katy Lavina Cooper and Lucy Walker and arrangements of traditional folk carols.
