It’s been a week when I’ve faced another bout of corona-related concert postponements – I knew they were inevitable, but it still was a bit of a blow when they actually happened. So what better than a glass of musical champagne to cheer me up. Known as ‘the champagne aria’ this is Don Giovanni being utterly outrageous, planning a party with wine and girls (yes, he’s really an absolute monster, but with music like this, it’s very hard to disapprove of his antics).

DOE Iolanthe
A healthy dose of silliness and joy in Durham Opera Ensemble’s sparkling production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe.
