If you’ve ever sung in a parish church choir, or if you worship at a church with an active choir, you’ll probably know this bouncy little anthem by the Roman composer Giuseppe Ottavio Pitoni. It’s an absolute favourite of amateur choirs – it’s straightforward and a lot of fun, but it seems to be completely overlooked by all the professional choirs as it’s really hard to find a decent recording of it or indeed any professional recording of it at all. This one is fantastically zingy and as a bonus, they repeat it in Dutch, so what’s not to like?
Echoes of Hansa Europe
A fascinating journey around the great trading cities of Northern Europe and bringing to life one of my favourite albums from recent years.
