I’ve been sent some information about a series of four Friday lunchtime jazz concerts, being put on at the Gala Theatre by jazz pianist Paul Edis. I don’t know very much about jazz, despite my husband’s best efforts to educate me, but I thoroughly approve of lunchtime concerts, particularly on Fridays.
The publicity info says:
Starting in September, the Gala Durham is promoting a series of monthly lunchtime concerts to showcase the very best of North East Jazz talent. A variety of different ensembles draw from a host
of different styles and influences, from the 1930s through to the present – all with improvisation and creativity at their heart. Although the musicians involved are all well known figures on the local jazz scene, this recital series includes some local luminaries who are quickly becoming known nationwide as virtuosi in what some are describing as a ‘golden age of jazz’!
Check the details for individual concerts on the what’s on page.
