Orchestra North East with Bradley Creswick

Bedřich Smetana: Vltava, (The Moldau), from Ma Vlast.
Henryk Wieniawski: Violin Concerto no.2.
Antonín Dvořák: Symphony No.9, ‘From the New World’.

Conductor: Maria Barbosa Aristizabel
Soloist: Bradley Creswick

An afternoon of music from Central Europe, played by Orchestra North East under the direction of the young Colombian conductor Maria Barbosa Aristizabel. Smetana’s Vltava depicts the great river that flows through Czechia and Dvořák’s symphony ‘From the New World’ mixes a flavour of the composer’s homeland with American influences. Polish composer Wieniawski’s sparkling and virtuosic violin concerto is a personal favourite of this afternoon’s soloist, former Royal Northern Sinfonia leader Bradley Creswick.
