Northern Spirit Singers directed by Katherine Hambridge perform the chamber version of Johannes Brahms’ German Requiem, accompanied by pianists David Murray and Richard Bruce. Brahms’s Requiem sets the composers own selection of texts from the Lutheran Bible and in contrast to the terrors of hell depicted in the Latin Requiem, it reflects on human responses to death and loss and offers comfort to the living. Brahms’s own arrangement for two pianos with a chamber choir makes the work even more reflective.

Northern Spirit also sing music by Heinrich Schütz, Johann Hermann Schein and Will Todd.
